The home team were able to field a strong line up at the start and soon showed their intent on starting the new season playing the same fast open rugby that led to promotion last year. They were pleased to welcome back Will Bradley after a long injury lay off and he showed his appetite for the game was still there when he opened the scoring. Galloway converted. Lincoln had their best spell of the day in this quarter and were able to reply with a try of their own. This was also converted to make the score at the end of this period level at 7 all.
As the afternoon wore on it was clear the Kesteven were growing in confidence. Chris Galloway, settling in well at fly half was next to score with a converted try and penalty before Dan Turner finished the session with a fine try to take the half time score to 24 - 7.
Third quarter saw Kesteven introduce some fresh legs with Martin Carew, Joe Cooke, Rob Cann and Sam Durrance coming on. This saw K's stretch away with further tries from Aaron Whittaker, Keiran Taylor, Will Cann who looked sharp and a 2nd try for Bradley. Galloway continued with a faultless kicking display to convert all four to take the score to 52 - 7 and in the final quarter play became a little scrappy but still Whittaker was able to complete his hat trick to take the score on to 62 - 7. All in all a fine display to set the team up for the new challenge in Midlands League 2 East North.
This Saturday Kesteven take on West Bridgford at Woodnook in the Notts Lincs and Derby Senior Cup - kick off @ 3pm
