The rain cleared and the sun came out (sort-of!) for a morning of glorious rugby. Our best attendance to date of 20 players all keen to get stuck in, so we shared our numbers with an under-strength Market Rasen team. We did a joint warm up session to get them used to playing together, then we started a full 12-a-side match.
The result was a thrilling game where both sides produced the finest free-flowing rugby of the season to date. Rucking in particular showed tremendous improvement both attacking and defending with very few penalties given away. Scrum work was equally controlled. Big tired and muddy smiles all round by the end!
Everyone excelled, showed improvement and deserves a mention here, but particularly impressive were:
Harry Handley’s storming teamwork with Rasen’s Nick producing half a dozen of the sweetest of offloads. Jonty Ward’s and George Austen’s excellent kicking. Harry Graham’s aggressive tackling. Ben Colville’s natural second row work. Archie Coffey’s forward carries, bravely taking some big contacts and shrugging them off like hero! Finn Shelbourne’s awesome hooking, well matched by the Rasen hooker too.
But really folks, there wasn’t a weak link this morning, it was teamwork all the way – well done boys!
