Kesteven U12s had a superb outing at Stamford Festival on Sunday. The whole team took a significant step forwards in their tackling, especially double tackling some of their larger opposition players. Leading the defensive charge were Toby Watmough and James Mulvaney both putting in ferocious tackles time and time again. Watmough in particular has mastered the art of tackling the opposition ballcarrier into touch to win the throw in. Captain Thomas Arkley led from the front with a tireless work rate and deservedly won the coaches' man of the match. He was ably supported by some admirable ruck work from Stanley Berry, Lucas Pinkney and Finlay Swain. Charlie Gench discovered some rare pace for a budding prop and Charles Grindle showed his versatility as a stand-in scrum half. Archie coffee also set up a nice try from the scrum-half position. George Davis and Will Hardy on the wing really stepped up their tackling, and Seth Daglish, Fergus Ratcliffe, and Finn Shelborne performed well in the centre, along with Cezary Majewski making a welcome return from injury.
We played four games, won 1, drew 1 and lost 2, but really the winner was the energy and enthusiasm of the team on the pitch, which was the best their coaches have ever seen! Big smiles and congratulations all round.
