A mild afternoon at Woodnook welcomed Market Harborough as today’s opposition along with players from Newark supplementing the numbers on both teams. From the outset the Kesteven girls showed great organisation, were firm in their rucking/counter-rucking along with some fantastic interlinking play and strong attacking runs. This first half, for the most part, was very evenly matched with both teams locked in battle in the middle part of the pitch however Kesteven exploited the chances they forged and kept a tight defensive line which lead to a 55-0 lead at half time. After the break there was a change about in the team structures to try and balance out the match score. This certainly opened up the game with the opposition taking full advantage of space left on the wing to open their scoring. Although the scoring was dominated from the opposition in this half it was another tight battle across the sides. Strong tackling and responsive rucking were a dominant factor of this game along with inclusivity of players from both teams. Well done girls another great performance with plenty to reflect on and by proud of.
