Strong win for U15 Girls

Lorraine Cepelak

Combined KRFC and Lincoln win against Paviours

It was a great come back for the U15 girls after a tough match away against Mansfield. This week we were joined by 3 Lincoln players to take our strength up to 14 to play a full strength Paviours side. We started off strongly with a quick turn over after a knock-on to quickly make good ground, with some good use of the ball on the wing and straight up the pitch for a try. The girls were quick to get stuck into the rucks at the breakdown and made numerous turnovers. Libby and Jeff showed great determination to win the ball with some pacey charges through the centre of their defence by Brooke and Esme, with a strong try by Brooke. The first half was very much about forward play with good success. We went into half time with a strong lead. It was at that point that the girls realised that they were actually playing with 1 player fewer than the opposition and still dominating the game. In the second half the team made much better use of the wings and Brooke and Rosie were quick to contain the opposing Number 8. Heidi was always in the right place to dig the ball out and it was passed out to the wings at good pace. Morgan made some very strong runs and was very close to the try line when she unfortunately was brought down. The girls recycled the ball well to bring it back the other way, Olivia (DC) was quick onto the ball and charged through their opposition before offloading to Liv N. on the wing. She made some good ground before setting up Libby, who showed great strength to take 3 of the opposition with her over the try line. Olivia C caught the ball straight from the kick up and took them by surprise by running straight through their defence to score. After a quick 2 tries by the opposition, Kesteven quickly regained their composure. Grace popped the ball to Rosie who charged down the pitch from the half way line; she beautifully drew in both defenders and laid the ball off to Olivia C for another try. Overall, a strong performance; the Lincoln girls fitted beautifully into the squad. They all played together as a team; they were there to support when play broke down and did well in the ruck to turn over quite a few balls. Its looking promising for the rest of the season. FT Score: Kesteven 42 – 24 Paviours.
