Kesteven joined with Market Harborough to take on Newark on Woodnook. The pitch was declared playable after several more downpoors during the week.
Newark took the early lead with some good aggressive running down the middle of the park tacking advantage of the new mixed team. the Ks/Harborough team pulled together and began to hit up in defense forcing Newark onto the back foot. They could not however hold them out and Newark continued to batter the door with some smart off loads through 9 and 10. This quick play was rewarded with another 2 tries before half time.
K/Harborough fought back in the second half and with some territory and possession they were able to release the quick harborough wing to score a brace of tries. neither were converted.
Newark however had the last say on the game with a final score in the minutes to run out winners 20 - 10. This was a great display of running rugby with committed tackling from all players.
