Kesteven began emphatically with a well-worked set piece off a scrum on our 22, George at 10 threading the ball through his backs to enable Nate (11) to charge down the wing, curving in to score under the posts. Josh (13) easily converted.
Paviors came back on the attack but were turned over by Fergus (12) who swept through several tackles before popping to Josh to finish. K’s dominated in their scrums with front row Charlie (1) Finn (2) and Finlay (3), seconds Lucas B (5) and Arnie (6), Thomas (8), Gabe (4) and Sean on the other flank (7), all putting in full shifts.
Now the rout gathered momentum after a penalty to us on Pavior’s 5m line saw Issac collect the ball and drive through their defence to score in the right corner. Another solid scrum in the centre and scrum-half Jack plucked the ball out neatly to two phases of backs, with Stanley (14) crossing in from his wing, then out to Nate to score. K’s defensive line speed harried Pavior’s counter-attack, Fullback James leading the tackles and turning them over at the half way line, working through the phases to Fergus to finish, Josh securing the conversion. 0-29 at half time.
After the break, Lucas P and Cezary came on at front row, Seth at second, Harry at scrum-half. Paviors rallied to frustrate several K’s opportunities, but our defence held strong. Nate’s kick and chase off another solid scrum saw Arnie burst through for our 6th try, converted by Josh.
0-36 at full time puts Kesteven in a strong position in the NLD league.
