Pre Match
Several last-minute drop-outs for Oakham meant K's demonstrated true rugby values - with huge credit going to the K's lads who happily donned a gold and black shirt to make this game playable. Kudos too to Wyatt, Max, and Alfred for coming to watch the game and for supporting their teammates.

First Half
Oakham got the match underway, with Oscar catching the ball and setting up a good drive from Nathan. Alfie O's kick through was well chased by centre Will H, putting pressure on the Oakham defence and earning K's a scrum 5m from the Oakham line. However, the ball didn't go to hand and Oakham were able to hack the ball clear. From the lineout, K's probed with a chip through but Oakham were first there to touch down for a 22m drop. However, a knock-on then enabled Oakham to break into K's half for the first time. K's then conceded a penalty, giving Oakham a lineout inside the visitors 22m. However, the home team knocked forward and K's kicked clear. Oakham drove the ball back in but good K's pressure caused a penalty for holding on. Alfie O obliged with a kick to touch, giving K's a lineout 10m inside the Oakham half. However, the lineout was lost and Oakham chipped over the top, but Aidan was on hand to tidy up under pressure. This resulted in a scrum to Oakham midway inside the K's half. A lovely break from Dylan (for Oakham!) was halted by an excellent try-saving tackle from Rhys. However, from the resulting scrum, Oakham crashed over to take the lead, 5-0.

Alfie O's restart bounced into touch inside the Oakham 22m, giving the home team a lineout. Good pressure from K's forced a turnover and K's went to the wing, where Aidan was on hand to touch down with his first try of the season. 5-5
The restart wasn't taken cleanly but was recovered by Will H, releasing Thomas H with a strong drive. K's spread the ball wide to Josh G who joined the line but he was well tackled into touch on the Oakham 22m. Oakham tried to kick clear but K's charged it down, giving K's the ball and setting up a try for Will H, his second in two games, 5-10.

Oakham's restart picked out Callum, who set up another Thomas H run. However, just as K's looked to go wide, the ball was adjudged to go forward giving Oakham a scrum just inside the visitors half. A good break from Oakham resulted in a scrum inside the K's 22m. K's then turned the ball over and kicked clear, but conceded a penalty for a high tackle giving Oakham the lineout 8m inside K's half. K's then won a free kick and Callum made an excellent break, somehow being tackled just short of the line. He would later go on the score, but for Oakham rather than K's! Oakham kicked clear to Josh G who was well tackled inside the home team's 22m. Their kick clear went to Aidan who raced into the defence but Oakham turned the ball over before knocking on. K's had a scrum 8m out and released Oscar to score a simple one with Alfie O converted, 5-17.

From the restart, Oakham won a scrum 15m inside the K's half. A kick through caused chaos in the K's defence but Rhys was again there, using his pace to tidy up. However, K's then conceded a penalty and K's managed to hold the ball up and earn a goalline dropout. Ill discipline then followed as K's strayed offside from the goalline dropout, gifting Oakham an excellent platform to attack. However, K's resisted up to the half-time whistle.

Second Half
Alfie O recovered the Oakham kick off and immediately fed Will H to score quickly after the restart, his second of the game. Alfie O then slotted the kick, 5-24.
K's then won a penalty from the restart but missed touch. Oakham made an excellent run which was well halted by Ollie M with a nice tackle. K's tried to run from the 22m but misfired in the centres with an intercepted pass, enabling Oakham to pass along the line and find Callum, now wearing an Oakham shirt, to score his first try of the season, and second-ever try for Oakham!!! 10-24.

Good tackles from Nathan and Josh G followed the restart before K's won the ball and Dylan, now playing for K's, was tackled into touch. Confused yet? I am! K's won the Oakham lineout on halfway, Aidan made a break and the ball went along the line to Dylan before Joel went over to score for K's. Alfie added the 2 to extend the lead to 10-31.

K's knocked on from the restart, giving Oakham a scrum on 22m from which they scored, 17-31.

The restart was taken by Oakham but a knock-on followed giving K's a scrum. The visitors chose to kick but strayed offside again, giving Oakham a platform again and a lineout inside the K's half. This time Dan O (playing for Oakham) touched down to narrow the score to 24-31.

The restart was knocked on by Oakham giving K's a scrum from which Oscar broke and scored a nice try, with Alfie O converted, 24-38.

K's took the restart and a delightful step from Joel played in Will H with a 30m break. He passed to Aidan who was tackled into touch giving Oakham a lineout. K's won it but made a forward pass in the centres. Oakham then had a lineout and a scrum which K's turned over. Alfie kicked through but again K's strayed offside and Oscar saw yellow for back-chatting to the referee.

Oakham then applied pressure. Tackles from Dylan, Aidan and Josh G punctuated the K's defence before the final whistle blew.
