Despite high winds and a passing storm the previous night, Woodnook was mild and at times sunny. Sunday 3rd November saw Kesteven host Nottingham Paviors. Both teams had a large squad split into 2 teams. Kesteven continued the current attacking spirit from the outset.

The A squad pushing hard from the first ball with aggressive tackling forcing a knock on and turn over, to take the first point and then another to keep control.

Game 2 saw a determined Paviors side come back hard with a try for try game. Great defence was seen from Cameron, Rory and Charlie, bringing bigger players down on repeated occasions.

With the 2nd game ending in a draw the next two had Ks stamping their authority with fast running, evasion and solid defence. "The Rory" Cam A and Sam hitting the score line.

The B side had a great outing despite being beaten overall.

The B squad held well against a strong opposition. Side Captain Monty defended from the off with good low tackles, with Jacob and Dom getting good runs and passes to score from. Arienne stamped girl power on the side, always being there to take a pass from the tackle.

Alfie, Reece and Hugo all made a notable impact to play overall as new players, which is great to see as the squad now grows and develops.

An excellent day for the Black Army, against a good side.

Some coaching thoughts for the day - we are still bunching around the ball, so space and pitch position is key, along with tackling low as most still tackle around the upper body.

All in all a very very pleasing display. The children should be proud!
