Following the cancellation of the Land Rover Cup, K’s U11s took the whole squad to Newark, with only Matthew, Joshua, Mason and Ollie Morgan unable to take part.

Hawks
Max, Oscar, Ollie Martin, Thomas Henton, Charlie, Joe B-G, Alfie O, Henry, Jack, Nathan, Joel

Game 1: Newark vs. Hawks
Following a turnover from Henry, Alfie O scored the game’s opening try, 0-1 to K’s. Newark then came back strongly with a brace before Ollie Martin returned from kick-off to level the score at 2-2. A try from Joel was then cancelled out by Newark taking the score to 3-3 at half time.

In the second half, strong rucking and fast defensive play saw Newark scores 3 unanswered tries taking the final score to 6-3 in what was a strongly contested match - well played Newark.

Game 2: Newark vs. Hawks
Another strong Newark performance saw them score 3 unanswered tries in a 3-0 whitewash for the home team.

Kestrels
Alf, Toby, Bea, Joe D, Ollie H, Zach, Tom McD, Wyatt, William, Thomas Hughes

Game 1: Newark vs. Kestrels
Newark opened the scoring with 2 tries before Wyatt ran in a try from half way to take the score to 2-1 at half time. Newark scored another brace at the start of the second half before tries from Wyatt and Alfred reduced the deficit to a narrow 4-3 defeat.

Game 2: Newark vs. Kestrels
K’s started strongly with an Alfred try from a penalty. Zach added a second before Newark pulled one back. Wyatt finished the scoring with the final score 1-3 to K’s.

The teams were changed after the opening 2 games:
Buzzards
Tom McD, Bea, Alfred A, Zach, Ollie M, Wyatt, Henry, Oscar, Alfie O
Eagles
Toby, Joe D, Ollie H, Zach, William, Max, Thomas Henton, Charlie, Joe B-G, Jack, Nathan, Joel. Joe D and Thomas Hughes sustained knocks in the first two games and were unable to play.

Newark vs. Buzzards
Wyatt’s try was cancelled out by Newark before Ollie Martin capped off an excellent team try to leave the final score 1-2 to K’s.

Newark vs. Eagles
Max opened the scoring before 2 Newark tries gave them the edge. Max then added a second before Charlie added a third taking the final scored to 2-3 to K’s.

Summary
An excellent morning’s rugby with some very competitive matches. Both teams sat together in the clubhouse at the end, eating well-deserved hot dogs which was great to see.
